"always do what you love, and love will come to you"
Nushka dolls are dedicated to everyone who loves and appreciates unique hand-painted and collectible goodies. A set of nushka dolls consists of a small wooden doll, which can be pulled apart to reveal another smaller doll of the same sort inside. It has, in turn, another doll inside, and so on. Australian-based graphic designer, Melissa Gardner, came up with the idea to start nushka dolls after stumbling across an unpainted doll set in a small tucked-away clothing store in Brisbane. Since then, she has been designing funky patterns and shapes for dolls and other little goodies in a unique and modern style. Melissa now lives and works in Sydney Australia at a new design studio based in Surry Hills and is loving every minute!
Nesting dolls are the most well-known and popular of all Russian souvenirs. The Russian word for these wooden dolls is most commonly "Matryoshka", but they can also be referred to as many other names, like: Matrioshka, Matryoshkas, Babushka dolls, Babushka's doll, Matroshka, Matryushka, and stacking dolls. It is believed the first Russian-made Matryoshka doll was created in Sergiev Posad, the Matryohka's motherland, in the late 1800's.
Thanks for coming and visiting our site - hope you enjoy these little dolls as much as we do!
