The Workshop


The best part about painting these dolls, is seeing them come to life & seeing them each develop their own little personalities. Each doll set starts as a blank wooden doll... I usually start by doing a rough sketch of the design in pencil on the dolls, then I start to fill in the solid colour areas and position the face & hair.

The next stage is working on the detail - using the smallest brush I can find (2 hairs!) I carefully paint each line, each shape and each motif. Finishing details and touches (like the eyes and mouth) are done with a pen.
